CGR’s Climate Initiative Listed on NSE’s Social Stock Exchange Platform

Hyderabad, June 6, 2025: Council for Green Revolution’s Climate Initiative becomes the 14th Project Listed on NSE’s Social Stock Exchange Platform – A Landmark Step for Climate Action in India

In a historic development aligning with World Environment Day, the Council for Green Revolution (CGR), a Hyderabad-based NGO, successfully listed its pioneering climate initiative as the 14th project on the Social Stock Exchange Platform (SSE) of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). Notably, this marks India’s first climate action-focused project to be featured on the NSE-SSE platform, signifying a strategic advancement in mainstreaming environmental impact into sustainable finance.

The listed project will significantly scale CGR’s flagship initiative, the Young Earth Leadership Programme (YELP), which has already empowered thousands of student leaders across India. With this support, CGR is poised to reach and benefit over 45,000 student Earth Leaders, fostering grassroots climate resilience and leadership through environment-based education, training, and school-level green infrastructure.

The occasion commenced with a symbolic tree plantation ceremony at the NSE Head Office, setting the tone for a day dedicated to environmental commitment and collective action.

The high-level event was graced by distinguished leaders and institutional stakeholders, including: Shri Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer, National Stock Exchange of India; Shri Sanjeev Rohilla, Chief General Manager, Climate Finance, NABARD (Chief Guest); Shri Abhishek, Senior Official, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI); Shri K. Laxma Reddy, Founder, Council for Green Revolution; Smt. Leela Laxma Reddy, President, Council for Green Revolution; Shri G. Narayana Rao, Chief Executive Officer, CGR; Shri JSR Annamayya, Assistant Director, Council for Green Revolution; Mr. Bhushan, Representative, United Way of India and Delegates from IIT Bombay’s Sustainability Department

This listing not only validates CGR’s field-level environmental work but also showcases the growing synergy between climate-focused NGOs, regulatory institutions, and financial markets.

“This is more than a listing—it’s a recognition of climate action as an investable, measurable, and impactful domain. We are proud to lead this transition,” said K. Laxma Reddy, Founder of CGR.

The Council for Green Revolution continues to demonstrate that sustainability and social equity can go hand-in-hand with institutional recognition and financial innovation.
