InspeCity Strengthens Strategic Leadership as It Enters Its Next Stage of Growth

Aug 6: As India’s commercial space sector enters a new phase of growth, the focus is expanding beyond access to space towards the technologies and operational capabilities needed to support sustained commercial and strategic activity in orbit. InspeCity Space Laboratories, an Indian space technology company headquartered in the Thane announced the appointment of Mr. Rajeev Gambhir as Executive Vice President, marking an important step in the Company’s evolution as it prepares to translate its growing technology foundation into long-term commercial and strategic impact.

The company is building a vertically integrated technology stack spanning Rendezvous & Proximity Operations, green satellite propulsion, and robotic systems to extend satellite life, reduce replacement costs, and curb orbital debris; enabling the next generation of commercial and strategic space infrastructure.

Over the past few years, InspeCity has steadily expanded its capabilities for in-space operations, earning multiple contracts under the Government of India’s iDEX programme while investing in engineering capabilities and infrastructure. Building on this foundation, the Company now plans to nearly double its multidisciplinary engineering and scientific team, from around 70 to approximately 150 professionals, by the end of the current financial year as it prepares for its next stage of growth.

Rajeev Gambhir joins InspeCity with more than four decades of experience in strategic partnerships, policy, standards and ecosystem development across the space, satellite, telecommunications and media sectors, having worked extensively with government, industry, academia and international organisations. He will help strengthen the Company’s institutional engagement, strategic partnerships and market development as it enters this next stage of its evolution.

As Executive Vice President, Rajeev will lead InspeCity’s institutional engagement, strategic partnership development, corporate strategic positioning, strategic opportunity development and international partnerships, supporting the Company’s long-term business objectives and strategic direction. He will work closely with the executive leadership team to deepen relationships across government, industry, research institutions and the broader global space ecosystem.

InspeCity Space Laboratories is an IIT Bombay spinoff developing technologies that enable a more sustainable future in space through satellite propulsion, life extension, and in-orbit servicing.
