27 February 2024: Detection Technology, a global leader in X-ray detector solutions, introduces X-Panel 1501c FXM for panoramic imaging to complete its offering for dental applications. The company is one of the few that has high-performing CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) and IGZO-TFT (indium gallium zinc oxide thin-film transistor) flat panel detector solutions for panoramic, cephalometric and CBCT imaging in its portfolio.
“We aim to make a difference as being a one-stop-shop for all detector needs. X-Panel 1501c FXM and the previously launched X-Panel 2301c FXM for cephalometric imaging are perfect combo for dental 2D applications. The benefits of using combo can be taken even further. By combining X-Panel 1501c and X-Panel 2301c FXM CMOS detectors with X-Panel IGZO-TFT detectors designed for CBCT (cone beam computed tomography), we have a perfect solution to boost all mainstream extraoral dental X-ray modalities,” says Tuomas Holma, Director of Product management of the Medical Business Unit at Detection Technology.
“Our trusted detector solutions are designed for multifunctioning and meet the most stringent performance and reliability requirements of dental imaging. By enabling one-stop-shopping, our combo offering streamlines the supply chain, minimizes risks and speeds up the time-to-market for 3-in-1 dental X-ray imaging systems in the fast-paced market. We see that original equipment manufacturers also value ease of system integration and maintenance.”
X-Panel 1501c FXM comes with an active area of 148.4 mm x 7.2 mm, and a frame rate of up to 500 fps in full size and full resolution. The solution is powered by a 14-bit ADC providing fast, low-noise and high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion. As a unique feature, X-Panel 1501c FXM is equipped with a data buffer that can be used in a specific scan-to-buffer mode to store a full stack of images, up to 5,000 full frames. This provides extra safety for imaging data management and simplifies system design for total cost savings. X-Panel 1501c FXM has a pixel size of 100 µm and is designed for an X-ray energy range of 40-125 kVp.
The design pays special attention to robustness and integrability. X-Panel 1501c FXM has durable, EMC protected enclosure and integrated primary protective shielding that effectively shields the vulnerable parts of the sensor and readout electronics. The top-side connector interface with shielded connectors enables a slender detector design with smart cable routes. Furthermore, it has a Gigabit Ethernet interface, and a software development kit that is available to support easy integration.
“Our low-dose X-Panel detectors have both a large active area as well as a fast-scanning speed, which enhances the patient experience and safety. When it comes to people’s health and safety, only reliable and robust solutions are acceptable.”
Detection Technology will showcase the key features of the multipurpose X-Panel and state-of-standard CT detector solutions at the ECR 2024 exhibition. The event will be held in Vienna, Austria, on 28 February — 2 March.
