Mumbai, Apr 10: PRANA by Nila, a residential development by Nila Urban Living Private Limited, has been awarded the EDGE Advanced Preliminary Certification by Sintali, marking a significant milestone as GIFT City’s first residential project to achieve an EDGE building certification. This achievement follows closely on the heels of PRANA also receiving the WELL Pre-Certification, making it a rare residential project to pursue both internationally recognised green and wellness building standards simultaneously.
The certification recognizes PRANA’s exemplary performance in sustainable design and resource efficiency. The project has demonstrated 48% energy savings, 52% water savings, and a 46% reduction in embodied carbon in materials, significantly exceeding the baseline requirements of the EDGE standard.
With 696 residential units, PRANA has been designed to deliver meaningful environmental impact, including an estimated annual operational CO₂ emissions of 312.84 tCO₂/year and savings of 244.44 tCO₂/year.
The project incorporates a range of advanced sustainability measures, including:
● High-performance building envelope with reflective roofing, insulated walls, and high-performance glass
● Energy-efficient cooling systems, lighting, and ventilation
● Onsite renewable energy generation
● Water-efficient fixtures and wastewater recycling systems
● Use of material-efficient construction techniques and low-carbon materials
The EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification, developed by IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, requires a minimum of 20% improvement in energy, water, and material efficiency compared to local benchmarks. PRANA’s performance significantly surpasses these thresholds, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable urban living.
