Mar 25: IIT Mandi along with its Technology Innovation Hub is all set to host HIVE 3.0, at the IIT Mandi campus focusing on the evolution of Human-Centered AI and Collaborative Intelligence with the significance of the research in Multimodal AI. The international conclave is from March 30 to April 1, 2026, bringing together over 500 attendees, 100+ startups, 100+ exhibits, and 50+ speakers.
As HIVE 3.0 enters its third year, this edition will showcase how AI is moving beyond text-based systems to process a combination of inputs such as speech, vision, gestures, and sensor data with a focus on Multimodal AI. For decades, however, most AI systems have been designed to process these signals in isolation, with vision models analyzing images, speech models processing audio, and language models interpreting text. While each performs impressively within its own domain, the real world rarely presents information in such neatly separated streams. As these intelligent technologies find applications across sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, mobility, and education, the conclave will explore how collaborative intelligence can support better decision-making and drive more effective solutions for real-world problems.
The conclave will be inaugurated by Honorable Chief Guest, Padma Bhushan Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan.
Reflecting its international stature, the conclave will feature insights from global industry leaders including Amazon, Dolby, Bosch, Microsoft, Hitachi, HP, Honeywell, and Collins Aerospace alongside researchers from world-class institutions such as Stanford University, the University of Regensburg, the University of Genoa, CNRS France, the IITs, and IISc Bengaluru.
Globally, conversations around Multimodal AI are gaining momentum, with researchers and industry leaders recognizing it as the next frontier of artificial intelligence. This is because the real world is inherently multimodal, where human interactions involve interpreting multiple signals simultaneously such as what we see, hear, and the context in which it occurs.
“By investing in multimodal AI research, the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) at IIT Mandi, we are laying the foundation for fluidic humanoid robots (human-like robots) that would redefine human relationships with machines” said Mr. Somjit Amrit, CEO, Technology Innovation Hub, IIT Mandi.
Through these conversations, the international conclave aims to convene the world’s leading minds to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. The event is also set to address critical themes such as responsible AI and its enhanced relevance in multimodality, positioning HIVE 3.0 as a pivotal platform for shaping the future of Human-Centred AI.
