New Delhi, Aug 6: India’s push towards clean and affordable energy is gathering pace, with the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana now witnessing more than 16,000 rooftop solar installations every day, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday.
The rising number of installations reflects growing awareness among households about the benefits of rooftop solar, including lower electricity bills, energy independence and a reduced environmental footprint.
The PM Surya Ghar scheme has encouraged thousands of families across the country to adopt solar power by making rooftop installations more affordable and easier to access through financial support and a streamlined application process.
The rapid pace of installations also signals India’s steady progress towards expanding renewable energy capacity and reducing dependence on conventional sources of electricity.
Apart from helping households generate clean power, the initiative is creating employment opportunities across the solar ecosystem, including manufacturing, installation, maintenance and technical services. It is also giving a boost to India’s growing renewable energy industry.
