At Andaz Delhi, Earth Day is more than just a day, it is a way of life. Built with sustainability at its core, the hotel integrates thoughtful initiatives across its operations. An in-house bottling plant eliminates single-use plastic bottles offering fresh still and sparkling water with zero carbon footprint. A fully automated composting machine converts organic waste into nutrient- rich compost within 24 hours, which is reused in the hotel’s landscaped gardens, creating a closed-loop system that returns waste to the earth.

Driving a strong focus on waste reduction and circularity, the hotel has adopted a zero waste to landfill approach through efficient composting and resource management. Single-use plastic straws have been completely eliminated, with paper alternatives available on request. Event spaces such as the Ballroom and Studio promote paperless meetings through signage and electronic communication, reducing paper usage while enhancing efficiency.

In collaboration with Enactus at Jesus & Mary College through Project Iffat, the hotel continues to repurpose used soaps into new bars. This initiative not only minimizes waste but also supports and empowers women, including those affected by HIV/ AIDS, while improving access to hygiene in underprivileged communities. Further strengthening its sustainable efforts, Andaz Delhi has partnered with BuffIndia to install a cigarette waste disposable kiosk, an initiative that has already prevented significant water contamination by collecting and recycling cigarette waste into useful products.

As a Zero Discharge building, all wastewater at Andaz Delhi is treated through an advanced sewage treatment plant and reused for irrigation, cooling towers and landscaping. Rainwater Harvesting systems support groundwater discharge, while motion sensor taps and lighting systems reduce unnecessary water and energy consumption. Intelligent room controls, including thermostats and occupancy-based systems, ensure minimal energy wastage.

The hotel continues to make meaningful progress in energy efficiency, sourcing a significant portion of its energy from hydropower, complemented by solar energy for water heating and public area lighting. With installations such as solar-powered systems, energy-efficient air handling units, and LED lighting across the property, Andaz Delhi ensures optimized energy use. Additional measures, including the use of anti-smog systems, contribute to improving air quality within the premises.

At Soul Pantry, a focus on millets and forgotten grains celebrates India’s nutritional heritage, with plant-forward, vegan, and gluten-free offerings that reflect conscious dining choices.

Both restaurants actively reduce food waste by donating surplus meals daily through a partnership with Robin Hood Army, ensuring timely distribution to underserved communities. This initiative not only addresses food insecurity but also reinforces a culture of responsibility and sharing.

“At Andaz Delhi, we believe in creating meaningful experiences that care for both our guests and the planet,” said Mr. Hardip Marwah, Cluster General Manager at Andaz Delhi, by Hyatt. “This Earth Day, we reaffirm our commitment to making every day an opportunity to protect and preserve the world around us.”

As the need for climate action continues to grow, Andaz Delhi stands as a reminder that sustainability and luxury can go hand in hand, where every detail reflects a commitment to a more responsible and thoughtful future.
